Putting a face to your Promise

Ask a marketing “expert” if you, the business owner, should speak or act in your own ads. The answer will most likely be an emphatic NO. They’ll tell you that you haven’t had acting training. They’ll tell you your voice is not “right”. I disagree with these “experts”.

See these idiots want the ads to be professional; they want the ads to be polished.

I say to heck with polished!

Putting the CEO or owner at the forefront of your advertising shows that there is an actual person standing behind the product. Consumers will get the sense that this person genuinely cares about their interests.

Check out how these guys do on camera.

Frank Perdue, Perdue Chicken
“It takes a tough man to make a tender chicken”

Lee Iacocca, Chrysler LeBaron
“If you find a better car, buy it!”

John Schnatter, Papa John's pizza
“Better ingredients. Better pizza.”

Tom Bodett, Motel 6
“We'll leave the light on for ya”

James Dyson, Dyson vacuums
“The first vacuum that doesn't lose suction”

These guys may not be perfectly polished but they are genuine. I prefer authenticity over perfection any day.

Do you have the guts to put your face in front of the camera?
